Terra Stone Update:
Tal and greetings everyone.
I apologize for the delay in posting the next chapter
in Terra’s misadventure, but I have been taking this one slower as I am already
working on her next adventure in my mind and setting the stage for it. I will
tell you that Terra will be joined by Rafe McNally and the lovely newly
promoted Lieutenant Junior Grade Marla Rojas. But for more you will have to
wait and see.
Some of you may have notice the two female pirates
that were introduced in the last chapter. A little easter egg that you may or
may not have noticed was that both of these women were based on historical
female pirates.
Dito was also know as Elissa. She was Phoenician and
was active around 800 BC. She was the legendary founder of Carthage. And some
considered her a pirate as legend has it that she was involved with leading sea
expeditions, raids, and the kidnapping of a large group of women.
So you can see why I chose her for one of my pirate
slavers.
The Baroness is a combination of two female pirates
from the Golden Age of Piracy.
Christina Anna Skytte was a Swedish Baroness who between
1657-1668 was said to have joined her brother who secretly owned a pirate ship.
They raided shipping on the Baltic Sea and fled the country before capture.
Anne Bonny also known as Ann Fulford. Many of you may
know of her if you ever watched the series Black Sail which she was one of the
pirate portrayed in the series. She was English and joined the crew of Captain Jack
Rackham in 1720 and served with another female pirate named Mary Reed both were
captures in 1720 and claimed to be with child to avoid execution and later escaped.
So there is a bit of history for you. I try to toss in
little easter eggs when I can. If you see one let me know.
I will have the next chapter done and posted no later
that Sunday. Enjoy
It is great to know that a new Terra Chapter is coming soon. I can hardly wait.
ReplyDeleteI love Easter Eggs, and have scattered some in the Bighorn stories with more to come. Some are so obscure that no one will find them, others are less so. Pipa noted a couple a while back. More to come too. All the best.
